It's been a while since I've suggested a feature suggestion, I considered putting this in Map Discussions as well but w/e.
So!
My idea is this:
MCSG hosts a competition. It's a plot-based survival server, with two worlds: A survival world, and a building/plot world.
The goal? To build a Survival Games (Or QQ) map... in Survival. A new challenge for the builders of the MCGamer community. They risk death by drowning, fall damage, and all sorts of other gruesome ends. To obtain the materials, they have to mine, dig, break, and punch their hearts out. Heck, they can even kill mobs to get experience for enchanting!
The competition would last 1-3 months, depending on what the Map Committee deemed fit, and would be hosted on a dedicated server similar to the creative server.
People could sign up by themselves or with a team - whether it be a build team, a clan, or just a group of friends is up to them and doesn't particularly make a difference. Build teams could also collaborate on a map, forcing them to work together and possibly make friends outside of their comfort zone. An effective resource-gathering and building team would establish a chain of command and help people learn new skills, as well as honing their current ones.
I've spent hundreds of hours in survival servers, and I know that it's entirely possible to build an entire town in a week with a small dedicated group, and with a time limit of two months, a whole lot can be done.
The winner(s) of the competition would get a chance to have their map implemented on MCSG, and probably a few VIP ranks to give out to key builders.
