Should this be added?

Recently I've noticed an increase of threads complaining about hackers. While i personally do not encounter them often, I thought of a command. /suggestban (players name). If a player picked up enough suggestions, they would be added to a list only available to moderators, and they would simply be watched more closely by mods. To stop players from spamming this command every time they die it could be limited to 5 per person per day. What do you think?

This kind of thing has been suggested in the past actually. Back when I was a mod to be exact. The reason it hasn't been added has a lot to do with the fact that people would abuse this. I can't tell you how many times I have seen someone die to someone and claim hacks, although there are actually no hacks.

Really the best solution to getting hackers banned, is simply to get as many people as we can to download some recording software and start recording ppl hacking, instead of just rage quitting and going to the next server.

Either that or the dev's need to find a way to block players who have certain hacked clients from joining our servers. However, that is a lot easier said than done.

Well this could be abused, but maybe a way to prevent abuse would be to make it punishable to fake a suggest ban?
Well, even if you do abuse it all its going to do is draw a moderators attention. If you don't hack you''ll be fine.

I agree with you, but even most of the forum community doesn't record. And a lot of people (like me) are just too lazy.

Moderators will get discouraged if they are constantly being pulled to server for non hackers. I know if i were a mod, I would get annoyed by this if they weren't legit hackers constantly.

Well honestly that kind of attitude doesn't help anything lol. You can't complain about the community and its hackers if you aren't willing to do your part and get them banned. Ignoring them and letting them go, just allows them to ruin someone elses game, and eventually you will probably see that hacker again.

I guess you're right, but editing takes like years. Especially if your bad at it like me. Anyways, it seems as though this shouldn't be added so i guess a mod should just lock the thread.

Don't have to edit a thing tbh :p. I don't edit my vids at all, i just upload them as is. Just don't start recording til you think you are about to get some good evidence.

legit hackers
Lel.

Anyway, I like the idea. It would save some players who are here to have fun a lot of time as they are here to play, not record hackers... To those mentioning the trolls, have you ever tought that trolls can troll on TeamSpeak3 as well? All they need to do is simply poke a mod, and say, "Mymumz is hacking" for no apparent reason, give a false server, and the moderator will waste ages trying to figure out what the hell is going on, and waste a lot of valuable time.

So, honestly, this idea would be no more or less anti-troll that we have now, but it would likely work better than our current system. However, there is something that you forgot to mention. One person should only be allowed to report the hacker once, and the have a 24 hour cool down period on that specific hacker, to stop people reporting the same person 9001 times in a minute.

Also, despite everything, I do not believe that we need the cool down period for the report command. I, personally, have had days where I have seen 7-8 hackers in one hour, so I wouldn't have been happy if I could only choose 5 of them to report, and a simple cool down period of the command in general won't work as you might see a team of hackers, and you will then need to choose the one you like less.

Two uses of /suggestban a day. Five is too easily abused. It's the same concept as challenging a play in [American] football.

I don't find it too hard to use the current system though. Call me when you find a faster method of uploading violation videos other than Youtube. I've tried attaching them directly to a forum post or e-mailing them, but the file size is just too damn big even as an .mp4.

Hmm... How exactly are you going to report 10 hackers with 2 uses? The only way 2 uses is enough, is on servers other than EU. On EU, every game there is at least 1 hacker... And I am, personally, not prepared to only report 2 hackers if I play, say, 10 games
