I know im gonna get hate for saying this, but i have to say it anyways. And i hope people will think more in depth about what im going to say.
So, recently, many of my young friends, (below 14) have been banned for swearing and raging. And that basically lowers their chances of becoming mod in the future. Don't start getting a bad impression of this thread yet! This is what i suggest.
Every year or so, the devs/admins reset every player's temp-ban history(NOT THOSE WHO ARE PERM BANNED).
You see, the reason for this is, take for example, someone is 11 and still immature, he swears and gets tempbanned. Therefore, in future, he can never be a mod no matter how long he waits, be it 2 years or 5 years. In these 2-5 years, the player may have grown older, bigger and more mature. And they may have the potential to be a good mod despite their flaws in the past. I hope a high ranked staff member will take this suggestion into consideration, thanks!

Every year? What about a ban that just happened a few days ago? No, if they reset tempbans it would have to be older than that. Also, this is just a bad idea in general IMO.

How about a compromise? The maximum length of a "permanent" ban is five years. That's plenty long for most people who meant any harm to forget completely.

o.o LeafyGreenTea?
Well he'd only come back (probably) if someone told him. Those who come back and continue harm will just be banned for another 5 years. Seems relatively foolproof unless Leafy's somehow managed to get even better since the last time the servers' have seen his abilities.

I'm going to say no to this idea. If someone broke the rules, then they broke them and will consequently be punished. If someone broke the rules than, we shouldn't have them on our staff team. We don't want staff who break the very rules that they're supposed to be enforcing. I'm assuming that you'll say something along the lines of "But they've matured in that time!" I'm sure that some of them have, but there are just as many who haven't matured in that time. I know there are ways of being able to get mod with bans, but I don't know them.

I mean if example, someone gets banned, it resets in December 2014.

Im only talking about swearing. Im ruling out hacks. If a player hacks, it pretty much ruins the chances of getting mod, unless if the app is extra powerful.

Lowers their chances of becoming mod? The don't become mod, hun.
As a fact, MCSG wants staff that know they can trust thats why obviously staff can't have bans, unless the bans are removed for a reason by disputing them.
Lets be real here. I know some that would be amazing mods, but again, they broke the rules. Think of what you're doing before actually doing it.

To add my opinion, if you are a young person (as in someone 12 or younger), and you are on the servers swearing and using foul language or raging at another player or, especially, a staff member, you should not be on the servers. You should be getting a lesson on how to be respectful. In all honesty, if someone needs to be banned for swearing, than that means they were swearing excessively or they were deliberately avoiding the profanity filter that is in place. In which case, even if you are young, you know what you are doing and you know it is wrong and you deserve the ban regardless.
As I see your point where people can mature over the years, I believe that this idea is not a good one. If someone starts playing these servers around age 11 and they stay till they are age 15 (the current age limit for applying for Moderator rank), it shows a much better sense of maturity if you don't have those temp-bans on your history.

The only thing I can say in addition to everything I just stated is, if you are a younger player on these servers, try and keep it cool and mature. If you feel you can't, then maybe it's a good idea to go play or do something else for a while. Good luck.
