Lately, there has seemed to be community outlash over some of the map committee's decisions. People have complained that the committee has not taken into consideration what the community wants when deciding on things that affect the servers.
After some thought, I feel that better communication between the Map Committee and the community will help to solve these problems. You might be asking, "But Joel, how will the map committee communicate more with the community?" My solution to that problem is simple: a periodic thread that describes the things the map committee has been doing.
These updates could include:
- A list of maps that are being discussed by the map committee to add to the servers.
- A list of maps that are being discussed by the map committee to be removed from the servers.
- A list of map bugs that the map committee is aware of and working to remove.
- Notes from map committee meetings.
- Anything else that the map committee feels is important to update/inform the community on.
This update thread could be done monthly, bi-monthly, or simply whenever the map committee feels like posting one. I realize this wouldn't solve all problems, but I believe making the map committee more transparent will benefit everyone. This is an idea I just came up with, so please comment how you feel about this/what could be improved in this idea. Also, I'd love to hear some feedback from people in the committee about this idea.
