I've won a lot of times never going to the middle even though 1 or more people have taken it. Strategie is the best weapon you could get.

There are also level 2 chests (like the ones in the cornucopia) all around the maps.

There are good enough chests out in the wild, on map 3 I spent the entire game hitting all the tier 2 chests in the whole map because a team was on the cornucopia, by the time the deathmatch came I had full iron with a diamond sword.
