Fall Damage no matter what?

Ok so I was running around chaseing a guy jumped from a high ledge into deep water where i would of taken no damage and I got killed? I tried this out before on various locations in the river in survival games 2 undr the bridge in survival games 1 and yet i keep dieing from so called fall damage?

Water shouldn't take fall damge.

The water was probably only 1 block deep if so you will still die

No, if its 2 blocks deep you wont take fall damage
