MCSG map standards must be raised.

So I've seen a few threads going around like
'Why remove moonlight lake'
'Remove demon's breeze'
'Remove freeze island'

The map standards of MCSG need to be raised. There needs to be more order when adding and submitting maps. I suggest (as I've said on another thread) to make a sort of Map Makers judging panel , where you take a few of mcsg's best builders , and let them decide amongst themselves as to what maps get added or removed. Map makers would be the best people for the job as they would have more experience in deciding what maps are quality and which aren't than the staff or the community in general. Voting to remove maps is a terrible idea as people may enjoy the poorly built maps as they may have an over powered chest route or they have won on that particular map multiple times. That would result in the removal of the maps (like fortress pyke for example) that are well built but barely ever played.
Another thing that annoyed me was that the other day I went on to have a look at the hive forums and see what kind of maps where being submitted over there , and I see a map which is no better than moonlight lake , and in the comments some guy wrote
"Sorry but this isn't MCSG"
Something needs to be changed.

So here's how we go about it.
You must apply to get into the MCSG's Builder Panel (that's what I've dubbed it).
Your app would require at least one map made by you and screenshots of your best builds. It would also include the basic information about you , why you would want to join... Blah blah blah... Much like a mod app. There should also be an age cap at around 13+ so that there could be a good level of maturity without ruling out the good builders who are young. Of course you would need to be mature regardless of your age to get accepted in the first place.

Judging maps.
This would be judged on
gameplay
Layout and design
Uniqueness
Build quality
Terrain quality
And chest placement.

All of the panel would vote whether or not to accept or deny a players map. This would be done by having a map submission page (again like an application) where the map is not debated by the community , but accepted or denied by the builders panel. This would mean that there would be no 'ADD THIS MAP CHAD!!' As every map would be looked at by the panel and each one would either be accepted or denied , no waiting around forever hoping your map gets added.

I hope somebody from the staff sees this , especially ChadTheDJ

I never said anything about rushing it. This would mean that if you released a map you would know if it got denied , so you can give up and work on a new one. If they denied a map they would give feedback on how they can improve next time around

I like this idea. The definitely need some sort of governing body to choose the maps because right now it just feels like they're picking the new maps to be added out of a hat.

Look this thread isn't a debate about what maps should be removed , its a suggestion as to how we go about doing so.

I like this idea since maps would be looked over more. One of the maps built by Red Forest was Treacherous Heights. The only negative feedback that we have gotten on it is that there was too much ore in the middle but we fixed that since it's only a minor thing. This map (along with others such as Pirates Bay and a few others) have been in many discussions about "Why not replace this map with this one". I think there needs to be a system for it and the one that hobo was made here sounds like the one for the job!
Good job hobo1955!
