I'm thinking about getting a round table panel discussion going on this topic, which really surprises me in how impactful it is to many. I might pick out a few people from both sides whose posts have been particularly insightful.
Stay tuned.
The problem is that this simple saying is only being used as an excuse. Honestly, if people actually take in what the acronym is, it's simply 'good game'. The community has swayed the meaning into something where people get offended just by one saying it. I say good fight after every fight, no matter if I lose or win, and I say good game, same concept applies.
Why do I do this? Common courtesy. If someone said eZ to me, I would feel maybe a bit offended, but in reality, do I really care about that two man team who just won this game? I'm still having fun.. no matter if I lose or win. I obviously try my best, and when someone say something like 'eZ' or 'rekt' to me, it kind of blows my high... but we're not talking about that... we're talking about a simple saying of GG or GF. Making the acronyms capital does nothing and with professional acronyms, they are usually capitalized and.. lets face it the g's in capitals make them look so much better
I'm not saying everyone complaining about GG is wrong, but simply stated I think they need to realize that it's a game and it's a competitive one at that. Trash talking is apart of video game culture, but obviously we don't go overboard by bringing people's personal flaws into it. This community of MCSG has simply changed the way we think of GG or GF. For example, I play on many other servers where saying GG is a sign of respect. And honestly, that's the way it should be.
The next time you're in a game and you see me saying 'GF' after killing you and 'GG' after winning the game, you can think whatever you want. I'm just trying to communicate and show others how much fun I've had.
