Yesterday I was in a server, and the map chosen happened to be Breeze Island, one of my better maps. At the start of the game, I rushed to the Cornucopia, got the the chests before anyone alse, and opened the closest one to me. I got chain mail, an iron ingot, and a diamond! Woohoo! I managed to take all three items, then rushed off onto my usual route, which nowone else happened to be traveling. In my first chest, I got a stone axe and some meat. Great, now I can defend myself and ward off hunger for a while, I think to myself. On the way to my next chest, someone jumps off a cliff, aiming for the water, but misses, and he dies via fall. It's directly on my way to my other chest, so I run through the items that he dropped, and lo and behold he ALSO had a diamond! Score! I sprint-jumped to the next chest, opened it, and found cooked fish, flint, and a stick! Realizing I had what it took to make a diamond sword, I immediately rushed back to the Cornucopia to craft the coveted sword. A quick look around revealed no one in the center, and no one in the spawn areas. I rushed to the middle. About the time I first hit the water, I was struck by an arrow, full chard, from the amount of damage it did. I didn't turn around, because if I delayed, I woul only fall victim to more of my attacker's arrows. I was hit once more, less damage this time, and was left with 3 hearts. I figured that all he had was a bow, and I was safe as long as I crafted the sword and fought back. I went to the other side of the crafting table and heard a thrid arrow strike it, then silence. The man began swimming the center whilst I swiftly created the object of my victory, but when I finished crafting... the man had made it across the water, stone sword in hand, and killed me in one hit.
He got the diamond sword and went on to win.
Moral of the story: Look both ways before you cross the Corn.
