What's the point?

Minecraft is a game. Games are supposed to be fun, especially playing with the community. Now when you're playing in Survival, the game tends to be quite more tedious, than Creative. So what in bloody hell is the point of this server when other people are just going to come across your modest base and steal all your stuff? And then they light TNT on what's left for the lulz.

Seriously, what's the point. If I wanted people to annoy the hell out of me I'd go into a Survival Games server.

I do say that survival does get frustrating at sometimes. If you really do enjoy it you would continue to play but if you didn't you would have stopped now. What I recommend is to take a break from it and do other things. Therefore once you come back you will be happier then ever playing survival again.

Edit: People like survival and do enjoy raiding that is why they keep the server up. The point of it is to have the best of the best stuff. Basically, be the best at the game.

Unless I'm completely blind, there are no rules to be found for that server. All there is for me in this subforum is Discussion and when I search "Survival Rules" no topic like that comes up. So, sadly, I can't read the rules. I found the rules for the Creative server but ironically that server's still down.

Well, you're right in saying that video games are meant to be fun. Everyone defines "Fun" as something different. Most people on MCSG define fun as being competitive and trying to be better than everyone else. If you're definition of "Fun" is being able to set up a strong base and gain a lot of resources without having to come into contact with other players, most of them being hostile, then don't play on a factions server.

I didn't know it was a factions server until I got on and paid attention to the chatbox. In the mcgamer hub all the signs said was "Survival Server" and so I was lead to believe it was a place people could go to play the game in Survival mode with other players, not against them.

Just for future references most survival servers are also factions servers.

Lets introduce the topic, first.

The survival server is a faction server. You can create a faction and start playing with friends. The point of factions is to fight other factions or destroy factions bases to get the chests. You can read the Survival Server rules for more information.

I will give you two options:

1. Play on single-player or build your own server were its against the rules to destroy others factions

2. Play in this server knowing that at anytime your base could be destroyed.

If you're to choose option 2, next time create a faction, claim your land and cover your faction with obsidian.

It is a FACTION survival server meaning people can raid you and steal your stuff. That's the point of factions, building a good base, raiding, killing, and trying to make yourself and your faction the best. If you want to play on a server that is just mainly survival, play on a SMP server. Not a faction server.

People like anarchy, it adds a bit of roleplay and survival (which of course will split some friends up), but what the hell... explosions are fun.
