What Does Music Mean to You?

We all listen to music, whether it can be from the new top releases or to Mozart, we all listen to music. It's everywhere, in every video you watch, on the radio, in the local grocery mart you shop at, music is everywhere.

After reflecting on some past choices of mine, I was listening to some music of mine that I like and I just begun thinking, why do we listen to music? Why do we like it? Most importantly, what does it mean to us?

Music just has this power to get you motivated, pumped, or just remembering the sorrows of your past. Music is something that influences you, but what does music mean to you?

I'm quite curious about this, and I myself do not have an answer at this time and place, but I would definitely love to hear some of your guys' thoughts.

For me, it's just a way to express myself and listen to it to improve my mood or just chill out while listening to music.
Based on the genre you listen, it kinda represents yourself and what kind of person you truly are.

I use music for imagination. Something that's literally impossible to do in real life, I just listen to a certain song and imagine myself doing it. It sounds weird I know but that's me.

Being a musician that has perfect pitch and plays multiple instruments I can easily say that music is my life. Without music I probably wouldn't be alive and I am not exaggerating. Music is what keeps me here, music is what keeps me from becoming too separated from the world because I would leave without music.

Music holds significance and importance to us as humans because there is a natural beat and rhythm in everything. You can tell that we were naturally supposed to play music because various cultures, that had never talked to each other, still developed their own music. We like and make music the same way we like and make monuments and sculptures. We have made these wonders of the world to please our eyes and visual sense, in the same way we make music to please our auditory sense. We as humans have developed something to please all of our senses. Others being smell with fragrances and taste with different foods.

TL;DR we have music because we want to exploit and further generate pleasure of all of our senses and music fits the part for the hearing portion.
