Hi!
As many of you probably watch videos on YouTube, you probably know what the media-sharing platform Vessel is. For the unseasoned, Vessel is a new website that many YouTubers have expanded their operations to. It is generally free to use, and offers a much more streamlined and simple interface than YouTube. It also has a paid subscription option, which allows people to view some of their favorite YouTuber's videos a few days earlier than they are released on YouTube, for a small fee of course.
What are your thoughts on this website? Do you think it will give us more ways to support the content creators, or do you think it's a rip-off and unfair that people can pay for additional privileges? Of course, not all YouTubers are present on Vessel, but enough popular ones actually do have an account to make an impact. YouTubers like SeaNanners, Veritasium, MinutePhysics, Syndicate and IGN have already broadened their reach.
I personally don't mind it's presence, as I joined on the first day and received a temporary free membership, but I probably won't be investing any of my money in Vessel. While many have the argument that relying on one source of subsistence (YouTube) is very risky, and expanding their operations will give them more reliability in the field of content creating, I would assume Vessel would end far before YouTube ever will. Thus, I don't really comprehend this argument. YouTube has such a strong community that it most likely won't just disappear overnight.
Oh, and here's a link to the website: https://www.vessel.com/
