US CLAN LEADEROARDS RESET/UPDATE/TOURNAMENT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you're a member of a US clan (or even some EU ones), you are most likely familiar with the US Clan Leaderboards. This universally respected marker of the top clans in the US region has brought you countless epic battles as clans try to climb for that #1 spot. But lately, the competition has grown stale, so, with the onset of the new year, the administration of the US Clan Leaderboards have decided to take the opportunity to change some things up.
First off: The Reset.
All clans will be removed from the leaderboards, ranks will be reset, and teams will have to reapply to climb their way to the top. Additionally, we will be creating a new staff team, prioritizing activity, dedication and maturity. Applications for staff will be open for all, but we will be selecting only the best candidates.
Secondly: The Update.
There are going to be a few major changes to the way the Leaderboards work now. The biggest shift is that we are now adopting an ELO system similar to Badlion, chess, or League of Legends. Along with this, we are going to separate the Leaderboards into four divisions, but allow clans to battle ANYONE in their division, not just the clan immediately above them. We believe this will allow for much more varied and interesting competition, as each team will be able to play a much broader range of clans, and not have to wait around doing nothing while the clan above them is locked in. Additionally, we believe the ELO system will cause the rankings to more accurately reflect the skill of clans, as opposed to the previous system, where all you had to do to make the top 10 was not disband for a month. If a clan proves themselves by beating high ranked opposition, they will climb the rankings swiftly, and if a clan holds a position higher than they deserve, they will swiftly fall to a rank equal to their skill. Clans will be able to move between divisions, but to do so they must reach the top rank in their own division, surpass the bottom clan in the division above them in ELO, then challenge them for their spot, a battle which, if they win, will earn them a spot in the higher division, and relegate their opponent to the lower one.
More information on the exact details of the new system will be added to the US Clan Leaderboards thread soon, but feel free to ask Zeno or Exodus about anything you want clarified.
And on to the final point: The Tournament.
To establish a starting point for the new leaderboards, we will be holding a tournament to determine initial rankings. We will be accepting 16 clans for this tournament, and your performance in it will determine your placement in the leaderboards and your initial ELO rating. Any clans that are not accepted into this tournament will have to apply for the leaderboards at a later date, but our selection process will be stricter, as we want the Leaderboards to be populated with active clans.
This tournament will begin two weeks from now, on February 14th. Applications will be accepted next weekend (February 8th), and a bracket will be posted at that time.
Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor!
