Thought about making one of these a while back, but apparently forgot :p, so here it is.

I am going to go through this step-by-step from lobby to death-match.

LOBBY: This is where you will be when you join a server to be ready for a game.
  • Get in fast. Unless you have donor, you will have to plan to get into servers, so I recommend doing one of two things
    1. Keep the server list open on the forums.
    2. Make a custom server list with your multiplayer servers.
  • Once you get in, learn who is good and who isn't. Keep the leader boards open and keep your eye on those top 100 players. Not knowing (for example) who egrodo is and being in a server with him can land you with a quick death as you try to come at him with leather pants and a wood axe.
  • Make friends, not enemies. If you are just starting out, don't piss people off, some people will learn your name and associate it with the words "Kill First".
PRE-GAME: This is when you are teleported to the map; the 30 seconds in between the lobby and when the game starts.
  • Find your route. If you are playing for the first time on a map, chose the one that you think is most-likely to contain chests and stick with it, your route will supply you with the resources needed to do well.
  • Figure out if you will grab something from corn. The cornucopia (corn) is the very middle of the map inside where you spawn, there are 4-12 tier 2 chests that will boost your chances of doing well.
GAME START: This is when the pre-game counter reaches "The games have begun", allowing you to move freely off your pedestal to acquire resources.
  • Know your tiers. There are 2 chest tiers:
    1. Will contain low-level foods, leather armor, gold and iron ingots, sticks, low-level weapons ect. These are more likely to give you a weapon then tier 2's.
    2. Will contain cooked and high-level foods, stone swords, iron, gold, and diamond ingots, and gold, chain, and iron armor.
  • Get to your chests quick. Your chest route may be very popular, so you must get there before others if you wish to get resources, especially on smaller maps with less chests.
  • Know your competitors. Figure out who has good gear and weapons, learn who to avoid and who you can eliminate easily.
MID-GAME: This is after the first few minutes of the game when everyone has looted a decent amount of chests.
  • Find a weapon, if you don't have one, this is the time to search harder, without a weapon you have no way to defend yourself against enemies, no matter how good your gear is.
  • Check for ingots. Having 2 iron or diamond ingots along with a stick allow you to craft deadlier weapons then the ones found in chests, along with stronger armor to fend against enemies.
  • Know useful strategies. Practice strategies like switching to F5 mode while running, and strafing while in fights, this will allow you to deal more damage and protect yourself from surprise attacks.
  • Food is crucial. Know how much certain foods heal so you don't waste food, and know the foods that can possibly poison you.
    • Rotten Flesh: Heals 2 (poison)
    • Raw Chicken: Heals 1 (poison)
    • Raw Fish: Heals 1
    • Raw Pork/Beef: Heals 1.5
    • Apple: Heals 2
    • Golden Apple: Heals 2 (regeneration)
    • Bread: Heals 2.5
    • Cooked fish: Heals 2.5
    • Cooked Chicken: Heals 2.5
    • Cooked Beef/Pork: Heals 4
    • Mushroom Stew: Heals 4
    • Cake: Heals up to 6
NIGHT-TIME: The sun has started to set in the distance, many of the tributes have been killed, the game is most likely coming to an end.
  • Know where corn is, night-time will usually mean that the chests will refill, so you will have access to all of the tier 2's there, giving you better gear and weapons.
PRE-DEATH-MATCH: Death-match is about to begin, you have 10 seconds until it starts.
  • Find the tribute with the best/worst gear, so you are able to avoid/eliminate them.
DEATH-MATCH: You and the 3-5 remaining tributes fight to see who will win.
  • Don't run in circles, that's a big no. You will most likely force the game to end before anyone wins.
  • Let tributes fight. If the last 2 tributes with the best gear battle it out first, you can possibly take the winner out before they can regenerate health.
  • Strafing is the #1 tool you can use in this situation. The one strafing will most likely get the most hits off.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! You have won the survival games!!!
Please leave any feed-back in a comment and any suggestions on how this can be better written to help new players. Tell Me if this has helped you in any way, if it did not tell me why.
