I don't like this idea, just because you do not have a years worth of experience should not count you out with in the community. I know many of the mods have not been in the community for a full year but do a very fine job. The staff can tell if you are good or not, time does not always determine it.

No, actually get good mods who will actually do stuff. I don't want some guy who played for a year, gets mod and doesn't do anything.

That's what you don't understand
The new mods dont know the commitment that is needed to beome a good moderator, whereas the one year old mods do. It's more of a redundancy issue than anything else

No No No. We have many moderators who work hard everyday who are only 2-3 months in the community. Many times people complain 'There are too many hackers!' or 'GET MORE MODS!' Adding requirements would lower the amount of mods we have and raise the amount of hackers that go unpunished. Although this idea seems good, I feel it wouldn't help the community.

Again, it wouldn't lower the amount of mods, only slow down their increase. The thing is, it'll bring in more quality mods who are capable of the intense load that moderators have to do

Not really. Regardless of how long someone has been in the community, they may be amazing staff members. I joined the staff team 3 months after joining the community, and I don't think I am a bad moderator.

This is mainly up to the Sr. Staff and how they feel about the requirements. We really don't have much say. :)

Honestly it's fine how it is I guess. Sure some of the new moderators have barley anytime played and know little to nothing about the community, but that's all who is appling. Everyone who has been here for any longer knows what actually happens as a mod and what happens with in the staff, and is smart enough to not apply and just enjoy the game.

Definitely agree. You need to have enough experience/ability to be able to identify a hacker. I've seen people be reported correctly, and there pretty obviously hacking (waterwalking, kill aura) and not get banned, and the mod's stats who failed to ban him was something like 15/200.

I'd also like to get something more than the same inconclusive "the user has been dealt with".

I think the current requirements are good enough. It is not like we have a major problem with moderation quality right now. Sure it could be better, it always could, but I would rather have more people banning hackers. The more restrictions the less mods. Also, it is really hard to get accepted without being very active in the community.

I don't think a time requirement makes a good mod. Hire someone to be a mod if they will do a good job. Don't turn someone away based on the fact that they haven't played for a year. MCSG is in no position to turn away people who might be a good mod based on a silly reason like "time requirement."
