I prefer the dark over a night light. In fact, having a night light is actually pretty terrifying; one night back last summer, I stayed up for two hours in bed because of it.

For your problem, just pretend you're dreaming and that even if something does happen to you, you'll always wake up.

Well, when you're walking and you're afraid of something behind you I ended up overcoming that fear by never allowing myself to look behind myself or start rushing in the dark, no matter how scared I was.

My way is stupid, but face your fear head on. I know it's stupid because I have a fear of heights and I fell off the rock wall in gym due to my shaking. I'm still going to do a trapeze though, so you could go down my route if you want.

I have this same fear, and when sleeping, I usually keep my blinds open because the light of the stars in the sky is much more soothing than an electrically powered night light.

I read a magazine about the fear of darkness. Apparently it was hard-wired into our brains since ages ago - makes sense, noone wants to get killed by tigers in the forest when you can't even see them.

The magazine recommends, like most other people said, that you face your fear head-on. If you're scared about what's around the corner, just think yolo and walk around anyway.

If that doesn't work, maybe keep a torch around you at all times. When my cousin was scared of the dark, I gave her my 200mW laser pointer for her to scare the ghosts away. Gradually reduce your time with it, and eventually you should be all good.

I'm still afraid of clowns, and i don't know why ;_;

But, i don't have to worry about the dark being...... well.... too dark. I have painted my room bright orange so it's kinda still a bit light even at 4:00 at night.

Not scared of the dark. Heck, I love the dark (except for when I'm trying to watch a movie on my iPad at night w/o my parents knowing).

I have a weird fear. I am afraid of hard shots in football xD. When someone's going for a really fast shot in football I just run away from the ball the direction is going like an idiot.. It's because one time when I was playing football with my friends, one of them tried to goal and he shot at one of my lungs. I couldn't breath for 5 mins..

You're just scared of the dark because you saw scary things happen in movies! If the movies had scary creatures at day, you would probably be scared to walk around when it was day.
