They started completely from scratch, I doubt it.

The ideas were, and the general layout of the coding I can guess would be similar.

I 100 percent agree. This should happen. However, I think there should be more than map 1 and map 2. I want map 3 as well because I actually like it. However, some things still didn't work in beta, like FnS, but it would be worth no FnS in exchange for beta servers.
