something wrong with my minecraft

When I open the shortcut on my computer to play minecraft, I get a blank grey screen that should have the minecraft news on it. Then, if I try to get on any multiplayer server in my list, I cant connect. Instead, the words Internal client error: cannot connect or something like that pops up. Also, when I try to force an update, Fatal error (4) appears on my screen.
Please help.

Delete the old one, And download a new .exe, Maybe that will work?

Or delete the minecraft.jar and force update.

if the news screen is grey that normally means that you dont have any internet connection. try force updating
