I personally hate English, my best grade on an essay last year was a B-. However, I looooove poetry. Partially because I'm decent at it, and partially because I love finding way to make words flow.

I entered two poetry contests with my school and it seemed like they were well-liked. However, I don't really consider myself good at writing poems.
