I've been trying the Snapshot, but I don't think I've seen any new things as of yet >_<
I don't often have a good run of playing vanilla, but I've made it to the nether so far
Not seen a single cow yet, and I'm living in a shack in a jungle, but I think that the Nether (Via Fort Hope) is my ticket to nicer areas, it already found me a Desert temple ^_^ It also intersects with an abandoned mine! Fantastic ^_^

In 12w41b there's a new block called the anvil. You can combine two items with enchantments into one and you can name the new item.
