Shift Clicking Doesn't work at start?

I shift click things out of the start and manage to hold onto them for a breif amount of time. I am absolutely certain I am the first one to get to the chest. I'll keep going and go to munch on the cooked fish I snagged, and it vanishes. Along with the diamond, the helmet, and anything else I grabbed.

It's happened so many times. I don't know if it's a plugin to disable shift clicking in the first few minutes, because I am usually fine after that.

Again, I know I am the first one into the chest (map 2, hop up top and tunnel down towards chest). I also have good connection and am using optifine. I just want my stuff... Should I try dragging and dropping items instead?

Usually it's because somone else is grabbing, but it does happen with the plugin. Grab the armor or whatever and quickly drag it, don't shift click. You may not get everything but you'll get what you want

This a bug caused by bukkit, nothing we can do about it
