Server Help!

Me and my friends noticed today that when we logged into servers sometimes it didn't work but we realised it was because of some kind of update that minecraft was doing. I have had 1.6.2 for ages and it hasn't not worked before but I went on it this evening and on all the servers on the list I have it has the connection symbol crossed out with a red cross and in red writing '1.6.2' written next to the cross. When I hover over each one it says 'Outdated Server' but I can see that the servers do have people on because it says on each one how many people are online each server and the are quite normal numbers. I Re-downloaded minecraft and that didn't work. Plz help!

Do this.

Open your new minecraft launcher.
Click "edit profile"
Find the list saying "Use Version"
Expand the list and click,
"release 1.6.2" start Minecraft and it should work!
