Recently, I found out that rank transfers are no longer allowed. I have asked around 10 mods ingame, and asked a few other mods on teamspeak; but none of them had an answer as to why rank transfers are no longer allowed.
Can a Moderator tell me why they are no longer allowed? Because a friend of mine has platinum on 2 of his accounts, and he is trying to transfer it to mine; but the mods have told us that he isn't able to.
The biggest thing that occurred was the 1.8 update and the 1.7 updates they made in preparation for 1.8. Long story short, it doesn't play nice with our Premium ranking system, and it makes rank transfers difficult, time consuming, and risky to do. After the first few muck ups that really screwed with the system, it was decided that rank transfers will only be done under certain conditions in order to mitigate risk. If you report it fast enough, they can do it. If there's a flaw with the rank (and you report it fast enough), they can do it. If the rank is never actually set or if there are duplicate ranks (thus the ranks were never instantiated), they can do it. But don't expect a transfer if the rank has been set for a while, as that practically guarantees something will break, and we can't have that.
(In other news, the amount of reports we've gotten of people stealing other peoples' ranks through fraudulent transfers has dropped to exactly zero. That's one benefit of all this.)
It's a complicated matter that we take on a case by case basis. Basically, if you want to transfer a rank or not, email the support team and they'll give you their professional verdict.
Also, moderators wouldn't be able to tell you because Premium ranks, or indeed any support-related tasks, are not their responsibility. So don't blame them for not knowing things they aren't supposed to know.
