Randomly got a free cape?

I just joined to play some multiplayer on a vanilla server casually this morning, and when I did F5, I realised I had a cape. I did a bit of research and I found this thread: https://scrolls.com/2014/11/up-up-and-away
This is the cape I got and I read down in the thread and this is what I saw:
"Want one yourself? Well, you have quite a task ahead of you. You know those badges that are given away every week for the top three ladder positions? Right. I’m gonna need you to earn first place five times."
I don't even know for what ladder position it's talking about, and I guess it's about Scrolls, a game I've never played. Are they just handing over free capes? Does anyone else have a cape like that for no reason?

Its a cape they issue to celebrate Scrolls 1.0 release. Its only for 48 hours.

Yes, all these capes will be gone after the 48 hour period. Not sure exactly when it's going away specifically but some time within the next 12ish hours I guess.
