Problems with spectator mode

Im not gonna go here to cry about 1.8, and honestly I don't really mind the update, however the new spectator thing is not something I really like.
First of all, people can go through the dome, loading more chunks and making the place laggy. Secondly, you can't double tap to go down. And worst of all, you go through blocks, and you can't stand on a solid block in my opinion, this is the most annoying part.

This also exposes some hidden traps, and secret chests
