Out of memory

So I got a new computer recently, a real beaut, but now MC runs out of memory everytime I try to play MCSG. I have 8GB RAM, intel dual core processor, I'm running i5, and my MC settings are Normal+16, smooth lighting 80%, fancy graphics and stuff, using Painterly Pack and Optifine. Can anyone help here?

idk i have been using the same computer and im getting a similar issue. I either lag out and die or get disconnected or the out of memory. And I run Far, brightness up, particles few, smooth lighting on, fancy, with no texture packs and no optifine

Try to allocate more memory to Java i only have 4GB RAM with 2 GB Allocated to java and I'm fine with a x256 texture pack.
