What is with all the bugs in this update -_-

no /ping, and you can't tab while /stats

Hopefully /ping and /ghostfix will be coming back shortly. However you can't /stats (TAB) anymore as it gives away disguises.

/ping will not be coming back as it was the most unreliable way to check your ping ever. You can do it via command prompt or by hovering over the connection bars in the servers list of your Minecraft.
/stats *TAB* will be coming back as you cannot TAB anything, but I believe that is a glitch and should be fixed soon.
Apart from this, it is in early beta, so just give the developers time to iron out all the bugs.
