Alright, so just before I do or say anything else in this thread I will just go ahead and state I'm terrible with politics and will not by any means try and provoke any political controversy with this topic.

To put it simply after the Australian election, Tony Abbot was elected as PM. Kevin Rudd and Tony Abbot had different internet plans: Kevin's National Broadband Network and Tony's Coalition Plan. The Liberal Party reconsidered their internet plan and decided to set up a petition to see who was in favour of having the NBN set-up, this means that if enough people sign the petition (250,000) we will receive much faster internet connection. Currently over 100.000 people have already signed the petition but we need more.

252,421/300,000 people have signed!
they bumped the requirement up by 50,000 for some reason.

I came in here expecting a spam bot, to tell you the truth. Can I still sign, if I don't live in AU?

Yay! I was hoping Liberal would ask the public before doing too much.

Just so you know, Tony's Coalition Plan would get download speeds of about 25 mb/s, where as the NBN will reach speeds of over 100 mb/s. I'm sure there's a website that displays the exact speeds, as well as upload speeds.
