My father actually came from Bangladesh, and he is Muslim. His last name is actually Ahmed, and mine was too up until about a month ago when my mom got it legally changed (But it's still not fixed in my school :c)
My last name was a large factor in me getting bullied, and people would make fun of it and call me "Alex Almond", trying to be as offensive as possible. It didn't stop until I got into fights with them.

I'm glad that you were able to leave your mark in life and tried to help your girlfriend, even if it wasn't the best way to go about it.

All these horrible things seem to be caused by racism, while it has improve we are still not there, Martin Luther King's dream still has not been achieved. Hopefully you don't have to experience anything so bad without even having done anything wrong in the first place.
