Hey guys I'm K3nnyrulez and I am a fairly experienced user when it comes to photoshop. I have been using it for about a year now and decided to help people by making a guide so you can improve your art!
I know I am not the best at drawing the minecraft avatars but I do know how to and ways that will help you. With these tips and enough practice you can easily become as good for someone like fins graphics for example.
This is a step by step guide on how to draw your very own minecraft avatars.
Step 1:
First of all you need your program. I prefer to use Photoshop but you can use paint or gimp.
Step 2:
Secondly you need to know what you're going to be drawing so you can reference and image whilst drawing or it will end up having parts that don't match up. Get a picture of the skin up from a website such a nova skin for this part.
Step 3:
Thirdly and finally before I get to drawing tips you need the most important part of this. You need a drawing tablet, this is only needed if you are going to want very high quality drawings but I would strongly recommend buying one just to make it so much neater and easier.
Without the tablet you will be using a mouse to draw he lines and they won't come out at the right lengths and will be all over the place no matter how good you are. If you're completely new to this I would try doing some drawings with a mouse to see how you like it and if you do enjoy it I would recommend going onto eBay and buying one of the cheaper products from Wacom. They are the most reliable drawing tablets company.
After a little while and you have got a little bit better you can go for a more expensive one, for example one of their tablets that has a screen on it.
Step 4:
Now onto the actual tips once you have all your equipment sorted. First
Of all you need to know what sort of things you can do. (Can you draw items? Etc)
Probably not but that doesn't mean you can't try but I would recommend to start off just drawing yours of your friends minecraft skins in basic positions such as standing still with their arms at their sides or arms out.
This will be your avatars guidelines/outlines so you don't have to make it very tidy, it is just a sketch layer (remember to put accessories, clothes and eyes, mouth etc)
Once you have done this drag the opacity of this layer down until the lines get to a light gray colour.
Step 5:
Now you want to draw your main outline. This is what people will see when they look at your avatars. This needs to be very neat and tidy so take your time drawing them and if you make a mistake just use the ctrl + v hot key to undo it then try it again.
Step 6:
Once you have drawn your bolder outlines you want to put the colours on your avatar. I personally use the magic wand tool to keep inside your lines but you can do another method if you like. Select your colour and then just use the pen tool to colour in the parts. Do the same for each part and your minecraft avatar is done.
It is up to you if you want to draw a background a out a minecraft background with your avatar but I hope you enjoyed this guide I will be updating it as soon as I get off my iPad.
Thanks for reading I hope it helped
