There have been a lot of threads on the forums about how the community is going downhill...
SO WHY DON'T WE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT??
Sorry for caps but I'm serious...
I wish that everyone would just stop whining about hackers and teamers and the like. It is a given that on every game, someone will find a way to hack it. It is just sad that some people feel the need to hack their way to victory, because it ruins the game for everyone else. Teaming is a part of the game. People have friends. Deal with it. If people want to play together, they can. Good players will be able to defeat a team. A team isn't the end of the world.Sorry for caps but I'm serious...
MOVING ON
The community has been going a little downhill lately, I will admit, but fear not! There is something that we can do. I believe that it shouldn't be up to the admins and the moderators to organize everything. What about some community events, more community events, organized by the community? What are the benefits? More community events would mean that more people would meet more players and therefore strengthen the community bond. I have seen a lot of posts saying that people are leaving mostly because they will never be good enough, or they used to be good but aren't.
Solution 1: Change the Aims of the Community
The community is way too focused on wins and kills and many people rage if they are beaten or die. Instead of promoting this, we should promote a nice community that aren't completely tied up with winning. Although it is the Survival Games, we should take some time to step out of our try-hard boots and help the new people in the community, especially the more experienced players. By doing this, more people will want to stay on the server if they know that they will be valued and helped on their journey through MCG. The aim of the community should be to have fun, improve skill and enjoy your time on MCG, not to kill everyone and everyone and rage if you die.
Solution 2: Have more Special Events
By special events, I don't just mean a Christmas special. I mean host special games or tournaments every weekend. But have them open for everyone. For example, MCSG Challenges have been introduced on the forums a few times, so why not have a specific server for the challenge. It doesn't have to be the same challenge, in fact it should vary every weekend. Say one weekend, it should be dedicated to the Budder Challenge, another weekend it would be the Bacca Challenge etc etc. I think this would promote having more fun and not just focusing on reaching number 1 in the world. Another special event would be staff vs members, where it would be a game that has, say, 12 staff members and 12 normal players on Battlegrounds and the player with the most kills would win for their team.
Solution 3: Different Statistics and Rewards
I know that MCG, and more specifically MCSG, has a massive statistics network, but wouldn't it be good if they kept other statistic leaderboards such as:
1. Distance travelled by boat, pig etc.
2. Methods of kills (e.g. fall damage, fire, lightning).
3. Number of times eating cake, porkchop etc.
Not necessarily these ideas, but more fun and relaxed statistics to encourage competition in other areas. I would love to be number 1 in MCSG for eating Steak...
There could also be a rank for the top of these stats, such as Pirate - Number 1 Travelling by Boat...
So there are my suggestions, if anyone else has suggestions post them below, and thanks for reading!
