So ive asked myself this question before but is it better to leave your PC on or better to turn it off when your finished? I know this is kinda a noob question but I never learned this for some reason :/.

Altogether it doesn't really matter if you leave your computer on/off, as long as it's not going for weeks or anything, but I turn it off whenever I am not using it. If I leave my computer on too long I do experience sluggish system performance.

I don't turn mine off unless it's been going for a while. I wouldn't say turn it off all the time, but you probably should give it a good shutdown at least every few weeks.

It honestly depends on your computer, personally when I am done playing I close all programs and put it to sleep.

Test it if you are unsure, leave all your programs running, leave for about an hour and play and see if you experience any lag or sluggish experience. Then reverse the operation and close all programs and leave for an hour and come back. Hope this helped, have a nice day!

The question really depends on how long you're going to leave your computer on for and what your computer is doing. However, general rule of thumb is that leaving your computer on doesn't do major damage to your rig. It will waste power and continue very minor wear, but many people choose to tolerate that rather than be inconvenienced with boot times. But personally, if you've got your OS on an SSD like I do, boot times should not be an issue even with shutting down.

My rule of thumb: if you'll be away longer than 30 minutes, turn it off.
Alternatively, keep your PC on and run a maintenance utility while you're gone (Defraging, virus scan, etc.).

Also, remember that your computer has Sleep and Hibernate functions as well. Read more about them here: http://www.howtogeek.com/128507/htg-explains-should-you-shut-down-sleep-or-hibernate-your-laptop/

I turn it off because I have an AMD gpu so it sounds like a Jet Engine in my room.
