Item Problem

For some reason I cannot take items out of chests. Like I can't even pick up the item in the chest. Shift clicking doesn't work at all. It isn't lag because it just doesn't work. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Since I can't get items out of chests I can't play. Thanks.
