Herrrrrro people ulthar here, and I've been noticing many people run into fights with confidence they can succeed, but then get a reply from their killer saying "ggnorenub2ezsteemroll" or "gg10hearts" or something else

This is basically a guide for all the strats needed to see if you have the potential to take out someone.

NOTE: This will NOT mean you WILL take them out, seeing as that takes skill, some lesson you have to learn yourself young grasshopper,

To start off, gibberish
uhguphvpairuby hy8[giu9qgfehvuoefhq'vueht;hgvwpiuhvutha[tvi;paorwgokbjhqef'ovaiwrbhuy8tjg0o[

Okay, now onto the real thing:

WEAPONS:

To tell if you're at any standpoint to make an impact on the game, you need a weapon, hopefully a decent one.
DISCLAIMER: The trolls running around with pickaxes and the Betty's held by w00kies, aren't a better weapon, no matter what any youtuber says.

Weapons go as follows in increasing order of damage:
Wooden Axe, Wooden Sword, Stone Axe, Stone Sword, Iron Axe, Iron Sword, Diamond Axe, Diamond Sword, and finally, Steak.

Axes work like this: The damage it does is equivalent to the sword of the tiered down material.
Ex. Iron axe = Stone sword

Now you also need to know how much damage it will do to an opponent, which brings us to:

Armor

This goes for your own and the opponents surrounding you.
The most HELPFUL tip on this thread, is also one of the more difficult to master, but ones obsessed by numbers, or me and a few others, have mastered this.

Basically, you need to calculate your armor value. For example: You're wearing iron pants and a gold helmet, nothing more. You think you're decent with iron and gold, but add them up, and a measly 3..5 armor bars, the equivalent of full leather.

Here is the tier's of armor's protection in increasing order:
Leather (3.5) Gold (5.5) Chain(6) Iron (7.5) Diamond (10)

But each armor piece if different, and is in its own way helpful or trash.

Here is the amount of each piece of armor, beside it is an indicator of its value: ARMOR VALUE .5
Leather Helmet, Leather Boots, Golden Boots, Chain Boots
ARMOR VALUE 1 Leather pants, Golden Helmet, Chain Helmet, Iron Helmet, Iron Boots
ARMOR VALUE 1.5 Leather Tunic, Golden Pants
ARMOR VALUE 2 Chain Pants
ARMOR VALUE 2.5 Golden Chest, Chain Chest, Iron Pants
ARMOR VALUE 3 Iron Chest

You can then do addition of others armor, and find its value, then try and relate it to other armor values from before, to see if it's near leather, gold, chain, or iron.

This ALWAYS increases your chance of winning if you have this knowledge.

Back to Weapons...
We mostly know how much damage is done to somebody based if they have full iron, chain, gold etc.

Here's how damage works on armor (Don't quote on this, seeing as this is how I THINK, and is representative)
The amount of armor bars is in wholes and quarters, for every full slot they have out of 10, it takes HALF A HEART of damage away from the amount a certain sword would do, and every secondary hit would give more if the amount of armor is on a half.
Kinda confusing right?
So a diamond sword takes 4.5 hearts with no armor. On someone with full iron (7.5) That's seven full bars, and takes away seven HALF HEARTS or 3.5 from the original, so it would deal 1 heart.
But because the armor value stays untouched, in the same situation, the extra 1/2 left over would go to the following hit, creating 7.5 + .5 = 8. So you do the same math, and the hit will register as one half or one heart
(THE LAST PART IS A THEORY, PROBABLE, BUT JUST A REPRESENTATION. DON'T QUOTE THIS, AND DON'T MAKE ME SAD :C)

But here's a picture of all the damages on full armor:
5 () 3 () 2 () 2 () 1 () 0 () 5 () 3 () 2 () 2 () 1 () 0 () 6 () 4 () 3() 3 () 2 () 1 () 7 () 4 () 3 ()3 () 2 () 1 () 8 () 5 () 4 ()4 () 3 () 1 ()

Thanks GamerChappy c:

Finally, a helpful way to know if you can take someone out are your secondaries. Up against a team with equal stuff as you or more? don't expect much without F&S. Plus bow's are helpful, especially on Breeze.

Happy Hunger Craft
May the odds be Ever in my favor... :3

You might wanna copy and paste this into the original post. These are the amount of damage points taken against all the types of full armour (sorted nicely so people who are too lazy to read can see it):
Nothing Leather Gold Chain Iron Diamond
5 () 3 () 2 () 2 () 1 () 0 ()
5 () 3 () 2 () 2 () 1 () 0 ()
6 () 4 () 3() 3 () 2 () 1 ()
7 () 4 () 3 ()3 () 2 () 1 ()
8 () 5 () 4 ()4 () 3 () 1 ()

You seemed to screw up the copy and pasting somewhere, so to stop confusion:

Also, the way armour works is simpler than you say.

For those of you who really want to know, a player's current protection level is represented by the armour meter, which contains 10 armour icons. A full armour icon represents 8% damage resistance. So, with all 10 shown full, the player has a total of 80% damage reduction. A lot of tweaks have been made to this, which is why it's best to take your final calculation with a 'pinch of salt'.

If you're too lazy to read any of this, just watch a lovely YouTube video about armour in Minecraft:
