How Do I Get A New Minecraft.jar File?

I am trying to install Optifine, and I don't have any jar files. I tried to find the force update on the startup screen, but I couldn't find it.

Go to start, and type in %appdata%. Once your there, you'll see a file at the top called ".minecraft". Open that, go to the "bin" folder in it, and "minecraf.jar" should be there.

Go to Appdata > Roaming > .minecraft > Bin. In bin look for a file called "minecraft" or "minecraft.jar". That's what you want to modify. If you don't have that... there's something wrong with your minecraft.
