Over the months of my being here, I've seen many, many, MANY, hopefuls applying for a clan. Some of those application were amazing, but sadly, most, have been rather shabby. So I thought, why not make a guide to help those in need? There have been many guides on how to write a mod application, so why not a clan application? So here I am, writing this guide.
STEP 1: Understand the clan's rules and how it works
One of the most common mistakes people make is the bad choice to not read the entire clan thread first. Usually they'll just find the application and copy/paste and complete. What they may fail to notice is a TeamSpeak IP, or a small notice about how they are not accepting application at the moment and etc. Understanding the clan's rules and guidelines is also vital to your application. For example, they may have a strict policy on win count; meaning that they will deny anyone short of the win count. Many clans also give out exceptions if you a quality pvper or if they know you are a cool person, but even with this exceptions, you should never press your luck. I would recommend to never apply for a clan if you are more than 50 wins short.
STEP 2: Fill out your application
The application is your first test in applying for a clan, and may be the only test. An application is your overview as a player and person. You should always use good grammar on an application, and if you feel like you're underrated, feel free to go in depth with your application. Being somewhat humorous also helps the clan leaders get a better idea of what kind of person you are. A good app should look like this:
APPLICATION:Minecraft ID: ImmaGetInTheClan
Age: 14
Donor: Yes, I have recently bought the lifetime diamond donor rank.
Wins: 248 and rising steadily at a rate of 3-5 wins a day.
Got Skype/TS: Of course
How often have you teamed with the Leaders/Officers: Not recently, but I look forward to getting on the
TeamSpeak and playing with them and other members of the clan!
PvP Strengths: I’m mainly a strafe/fishing rod user, but also consider myself an advanced flint and steel
user.
PvP Weaknesses: teams of 3+ and bow spammers, I have a tendency to run into arrows, and occasionally fire.
A bad app looks like this:
APPLICATION:Minecraft ID: ImmaGetInTheClan
Age: 9001Donor: ya i rich so i haz donor
Wins: 42
Got Skype/TS: ya
How often have you teamed with the Leaders/Officers: no
PvP Strengths: errything
PvP Weaknesses: nuthin. i r bacca.
STEP 3: Have a good reputation
It's important to not have a good reputation. It's easier to go in with no reputation, then to go in with a bad. A good one will always aid your way into acceptance; a bad one will just make it harder. If you do have a nonexistent or bad reputation, I'd advise to try to get the clan leaders to get to know the real you, which is hopefully, a good person. The best way to do this is to try to play with the leaders using TeamSpeak or other such programs. Sometimes it's better to play with the clan before applying, so they'll only have initial good thoughts.
That's it for now, more is to come in the following days.
