Glade's Album Reviews
Human
Three Days Grace
Let me start this off with an explanation on what this is. This is a little series of reviews for albums, new and old, that I, Glade_OS, will be doing on a regular basis. The album reviews will be for albums in the rock, hard rock, metal, emo, punk, grunge, alternative rock, and all sub-genres and fusions. If you have a suggestion for an album for me to review that fits one of the categories please feel free to suggest it. Also please give me feedback on these threads and I will think about said feedback. I am currently looking for graphics for the series, mainly being the end score and logo (which is currently just the underlined text ). If you want to make graphics for these threads please message me on the forums. Human
Three Days Grace
In these reviews there are three phases. The overview, the songs, and the conclusion. The overview will tell about the band, the songs will be the reviews of each song, and the conclusion will be an average. All things will be rated out of 10 with 10 being the highest and 1 being the lowest.
The Review
Song 1 - Human Race:
Human race was the last single off the album and is the opening track. It is slightly repetitive at times however this works to the songs advantage. The instruments fit well with the song as well, with the drums being fun to jam out to (by the way I might reference the drums in a song, since I play the drums). It also has a pretty good guitar at the end. All in all, the song will be getting a rating of 9/10.
Song 2 - Painkiller:
In my opinion, this is the best song off of the album and was the second single. It is mainly about addiction and how we all have them. However, this time it is written from the point of view of the thing you are addicted to. It is very upbeat and, like Human Race, a fun song to jam out to. The final rating for Painkiller will be a 10/10
Song 3 - Fallen Angel:
Fallen Angel is one of the songs that I found slightly lacking compared to others. However, it is still a good listen. I think the meaning is rather hard to find since I still can not find out the meaning. It is not as upbeat as Painkiller though. My final score for this song is a 6/10
Song 4 - Landmine:
This is a little more upbeat then most of the other songs in the album. It seems to mainly be the point of view of a landmine "waiting to explode." I have currently jammed out to this song so I can not give my opinions on this. My final score for Landmine is an 8/10
Song 5 - Tell Me Why:
This song kind of reminds me of Never Too Late by Three Days Grace for some reason, except a little faster. It could involve having to struggle with things being taken from you and how things change, mainly shown in the chorus. I currently have not jammed out to this song. The score for Tell Me Why is an 8/10
Song 6 - I Am Machine:
I Am Machine was the first single off of Human and is the most popular song on the album, according to iTunes. This seems to tell the story of a machine that wants to be human and feel, even if it is pain. It is more upbeat than most other songs on the album. I have, surprisingly, not played this song. This has led me to give I Am Machine a final score of 10/10
Song 7 - So What:
This song, in my opinion, does not have a clear meaning. My main complaint is that the song seems a little repetitive and the chorus doesn't make much sense. However, it does not affect the song too much. It is still very upbeat and fun to listen to. I have not played So What before, but it seems fun to play. So, So What will be getting an 8/10
Song 8 - Car Crash:
This is one of my favorite songs on the album. I have not played it at this current time but it seems fun. It could have something to do with disaster being imminent. Which explains why the song basically talks about a Car Crash. The song is slightly repetitive but that actually adds to the song. Car Crash will come crashing down with a 10/10
Song 9 - Nothing's Fair in Love and War:
Also a very nice song to jam out to, but also a great song to listen to. The chorus is one of the most memorable choruses on the album, being beaten by the singles. My heart, his knife, gives this song a 9/10
Song 10 - One Too Many:
This song is probably the most repetitive songs on Human. It is also, in my opinion, one of the songs that is lacking on the album. It isn't exactly as bad as Fallen Angel and The Real You but it isn't as good as the others. It may say the same phrase one too many times, but that won't stop the song from getting a 7/10
Song 11 - The End is Not the Answer:
First off, I want to say something about this song, which will definitely affect the score. This song is one song that you want to listen to when going through a tough time. It's name speaks for itself. Now onto the song. The song is probably the more addicting songs on the album, and definitely one of the best. It is upbeat and also fun to play. Even though the end is not the answer, I will end this with giving this song a 9/10
Song 12 - The Real You:
The Real You is the closing song on the album. Unfortunately, this song sort of leaves with a bad taste in your mouth. It is probably the worst song on the album. However, it does have the redeeming feature of incorporating the most instruments. The real truth is that even though the song is the closing, it will still be getting a 5/10
Conclusions:
To conclude my first album review, I can safely say this is a good album. It does use a little too much auto-tune however, I think there may be a reason they used it based on the albums theme. In the end the final score is a 8.25/10. It is definitely an album to check out, however it isn't exactly a "rush to the stores like it is Black Friday" album. I hope you all enjoyed my first album review. I hope to make many more of these and I am going to start making the list of albums I will review for reference. Come next time and I will be reviewing the "best-selling punk album ever," American Idiot by Green Day. See you all soon!
Final Score:
8.25/10
