Family Guy's humor level fluctuates between seasons, so I wouldn't go to them for the most consistent laughs nor the best laughs. But the show is fun, some of their gags are great, I love the dynamic between Stewie and Brian (their duo episodes are some of the best for their explorations of character more than their humor), and I feel that hating Family Guy is a fad akin to everyone hating Nickelback.
But that being said, Family Guy pales in comparison to humor giants like Futurama, South Park, and Bob's Burgers. Everyone's humor is different, but those shows are generally considered comedicly superior.
