Dodgy OF purchase?

So I'm supposedly about to purchase an OF cape and the last stage of the payment is a strange cardinalcommerce.com page saying "Protect your card from unauthorised use online" and asking me to fill in card details when I have already done this on the Optifine website page. When I try going back to the OF website page it is saying I need to do this to complete the purchase? I'm not submitting anything until I know this is normal for an OF purchase, help me out?

I've never heard of this before. Are you sure the site you're purchasing it from is indeed http://optifine.net ? Sometimes if you typed in something like optifine.com or optifine.org it could bring you to a false site that looks exactly like or very similar to the original site but is linked to a scammer. It's called a DNS attack in which it's a separate IP address from the original legitimate site but sharing the same or similar link to the original site.

I don't think I experienced anything like that when I bought my OF cape.

Make sure you're using https://optifine.net/donate and not some other link- that's the official OptiFine donation page. Just use PayPal or a payment method of your choosing and everything should be fine.
