Crashing problem

Hi there, my friend has a problem with the lobby map. All of last night, whenever he's tried to load the lobby map, he crashes so he can never join a game, only spectate me. Any idea on how to fix this?

Can he join other servers? Also has he tried re-downloading Minecraft?

Before you login to the client, click on options and click on force update.

After that just login like usual (without closing the client) and it'll replace your bin with a clean version.
