Crafting Benches Don't Work

I haven't been able to craft since the new update. One time I was playing with my friend and It said I crafted and iron sword, and when i pulled it out to use it, on my screen it looked like I was using an iron sword but on his it said I was using my fist. The damage was with my fists. Please Fix This

It's a bug for mine craft in 1.5. It's something we can't fix.

As said above, it's minecraft 1.5, not MCSG. We can't fix it. Thread locked.
