Hey there,

Please note: This is going to be long and full of tiny details.

I'm intending to upgrade my computer, once I have enough cash to buy all the parts and whatnot.
I've been helping my parents do some stuff, and I may be getting $100-300 in the next month or two.
I'd rather not buy a brand-new gaming computer, since I won't be getting that much money, but I will hopefully be getting enough to upgrade some parts and whatnot. I know I won't be able to buy any major parts, just small things that are missing or need upgrading or something.

The thing is, I have TWO (Edit: Three. One I won't be using in the upgrade.) computers. One I use on a regular basis, and the other I haven't used in a few months. (And even then, only for around 2 weeks until I got mine back)

One is an HP TouchSmart 310 PC - Links to specs, etc.:

http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/si...x.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken

https://www.google.com/search?q=hp+...&sourceid=chrome&espvd=210&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8

Woah, those are some pretty dang long links o.o
That one is a Touch-Screen, all-in-one (AIO) computer. Windows 7, 4 Gigabytes of RAM, AMD Athlon II X2 245e Processor 2.90 GHz.
Now that I think of it, I actually have two of them - The one that I am using to type this right now was used for Graphic Designing (It has things like Photoshop on it), and the second one broke down a number of months ago. (They are the exact same model) It still turns on, but I think I overheated the screen from playing too much (Yeah, I'm serious.) So I can use everything except the screen, which I won't need. (I have a spare monitor)

The other computer is of Antec make, but I have absolutely no idea what model. It's from.. perhaps '07-'09 I think. This one is not an AIO, and has the base Computer, as well as a separate monitor. I know it has Windows XP, 4 Gigabytes of RAM. I looked at all the sides and whatnot of the computer, but I don't have the box, so I can't find out what model, sorry. (Couldn't turn it on this morning due to lack of a cord to connect the monitor and computer, which is in storage.)

With those two computers (Excluding the one I'm using now, since I can't risk ruining it, since it has valuable software on it) I can take the parts, dismantle the computers, and try and put together a new one. I might be able to spend some money on parts, but nothing major.

TL;DR?
I have two computers that I can dismantle and tinker with. I would like to combine them. (Specs of one computer can be found above)
I need to know if it's: Possible, Difficult, What I'd need to combine them, and recommendations...
TBH, I've never done something like this, but I'll have someone helping me (A parent :p) so if it's possible, we should be able to get it done.
So.. what would we need?
And is it even possible?

If you need any more info, feel free to ask (I'm not experienced with this type of thing, so I didn't really know what to include.)

So by combine you just mean take apart and reassemble? If so this is quite an easy task.

Yes and no.

You can salvage parts, but you will need to buy parts, since those are all in one desktops which are basically laptops with a desktop design. You'd have to buy a PSU, GPU (unless you want to run on the on-board GPU which I don't recommend) and I'd also recommend getting a SDD for the pc and use the HDD's from your old pc's as storage.

From the old pc's you can salvage the CPU and the RAM (the ram should be the right length, unless its those small ones....)

I thought Frankenstein was the zombie-thingy that the doctor (I dunno who) made o_O
Nope, common misconception. Frankenstein is actually the guy who made him, everyone calls the monster Frankenstein though.

That's good c:
Although judging by what this says

I'm guessing that I'd still need to buy more stuff.

PSU is.. Power Supply Unit? I'm guessing I can't use the one that I have right now for the computer?
GPU is.. Graphics Processing Unit. Any recommendations for what I should get?
SDD had like 6 definitions on Wikipedia for Computing ;-;
How much do you think a PSU/GPU etc. would cost?
Also, is there a way to make it be able to use WiFi, since one of them (The one that I'll be putting the parts in) doesn't handle wireless internet.

Easy. Smash the two computers together and boom, you have two broken computers ready to play!

PSU: Power Supply Unit. From what I know, All-In-One Desktops are powered the same way as laptops, there is no real PSU. When buying a PSU you need to see how much the CPU and GPU needs to be able to run, for example my GPU needs 450W and the CPU 77W, so I bought a 600W PSU.
GPU: Graphics card. I personally like Nvidia, they make the best graphics cards. I myself got a 660, which is a pretty nice card with 2gb ram inside it for €200. But if you want the newest hardware and want to spend that much, then I'd recommend getting the 760, it was released this year and is slightly faster/better than the 660. I'm not sure if it has to have the right CPU though.
SSD: Solid State Drive (not sdd, my fault) is like a HDD, but a lot faster. I use an SSD for the operating system and for games and use an external HDD for storage.
Wifi: Just buy an adapter, they aren't expensive. I am using a USB adapter.

Oh yeah, don't forget fans, especially for the CPU. Or you could do water cooling.

Oh, wow thanks :D

I'm mainly building the computer for gaming, but I've never been especially picky about FPS - 60-100 on Normal is completely fine with me, and I get a bit under that with the computer that I'm using ATM, which has 4 GBs of RAM
One of the computers probably has a PSU, but if I need to upgrade it I will. I'm going to guess it's based on more than just the CPU and GPU, but those are the main two parts that need a lotta power?
For SSD, is there a compatibility issue or some other reason that I can't use the old one(s)?
I'll look into Wifi adapters, thanks :D
