I was looking at the map that this server uses, and there seem to be a lot of cool puzzles and items that don't work because of the randomized chests. But the randomized items are good as well, because then tributes don't know exactly what is in each chest.
My suggestion is a compromise: why not have the server only randomize empty chests on the map, allowing special puzzle chests and the like to contain only specific items? That way, for example, if a puzzle required placing a redstone torch on a block to get an enchanted sword, the gamemaker could put the only redstone torch in a puzzle chest all the way across the arena.
