Can't upload images?:(

Whenever I try to upload an image by pressing the 'Upload a file button.' It just says an error has occured and I cannot upload it? Ive tried uploading a photo by pressing 'insert/edit image' But when I do that the image doesnt appear. So how do I upload an image so its big on the screen? Thankyou.
