If you are making a 24 player map, then its 250-500 blocks, but in 48 it is 500-1000 I believe.

If you have a bukkit server, you can download the plugin WorldEdit and the plugin VoxelSniper for terraforming, and domes and the like.

When building a 24-player map, the minimum radius of the map must be 200 and the maximum is 500.
When building a 24-player map, the minimum radius of the map must be 500 and the maximum is 1000, as I have heard from a staff member.

To create the glass dome, you need WorldEdit and do the command; //hsphere glass (radius)

For the dome, my best bet is to install WorldEdit, a program that you can just google, and go to the center of the map, where the corn is. Then, type in the following command:

//hsphre <block> <raidius>

For a dome, I would recommend glass (obviously). If you want a small map, go 200 for the radius, while perhaps 400-500 for a big map.

The command will lag, just a heads up. :)
