Nope, you'd be surprised at actually how many people work hard on the SG maps. I'd say TeamElite (30 active members) have 2-3x as much man power as us. Though we do have about 50 active members, we don't all just make SG maps.

As you can see, it says the 'KEY' members, are ... 20 of you. Then it goes onto say 'the rest' so, that implies you have 30+ members.
Apologies, I must have remembered it as being 25-30 key workers instead of 20.

I don't think there is such a thing as the best builder, because while you may be better than me for large buildings, I may be better for small, or Fred may be better at medieval buildings, and John may be better at modern buildings. All teams are as good as each other, it's more an issue of cohesion with most teams, do each individuals' style work well with each other.
