Best and latest guide for Optifine installation?

Hi! So I'd want to install optifine now and as I'm not exactly a tech-wizard I had a look through youtube for guides in installing it.

Now as there's multiple guides and some of them are quite different in how they go through the process could anyone recommend/link me to a guide that will definitely work please? I got at the moment the file for optifine 1.4.6. I've read stuff about black screen and not being able to play Minecraft, and I'm paranoid about it happening to me! Oh, and is it correct that you need Winrar installed too?

May be seen as quite a noobish question but eh, the help be appreciated.

And I haven't really installed a mod before so, yeah, even the simple stuff I'm still a bit mind-boggled over. Though its probably the easiest thing in the world to do. xD

Okay first download the OptiFine Version and download WinRAR.
Then press these keys 'Windows' and 'R' and press enter.
Now find the folder labeled .Minecraft and click on it
open the 'bin' file and find minecraft.jar
right-click that and move your mouse to 'open with' and 'WinRAR'
Got and find your Optifine.zip which should be in your downloads and open that with WinRAR aswell.
Drag the content of Optifine.zip into minecraft.jar and delete the folder named 'Meta.inf' from your minecraft.jar
Walla!

Download Optifine.
Use 7-Zip or winRAR to open minecraft.jar and optifine.zip.
Ctrl-A to select all files in Optifine.zip, and then drag them into minecraft.jar
Make sure to delete the META-INF folder in minecraft.jar
???

Ok, here's the easy way - Skydaz has made a mod installer for optifine!

1. Go to this link: http://www.skydaz.com/optifine-mod-installer-for-minecraft-1-4-7/
2. Download the installer
3. Close your Minecraft if you have it open
4. Open the installer and click install mod
5. In a couple of minutes, you will have Optifine!

LOL Well with all the responses I'm sure you've drummed how to do it into my head now! I'll be a PC expert before you know it, passing my knowledge from the elders onto others.
