A serious question about using a Map, need advice from a mod.

I'm part of a build team, but the people in it are rarely active and just yesterday we started to build a map, and only me and my friend have done anything on it and no one is ever active even when we werent working on the map, so I was wondering if it would be allowed for us to download the map and work on it on our own since we've only done work on it?

A friend will be posting screenshots soon showing what may be proof.

Next build team you go to ask an Administrator of the build team or the community manager about it.
