One of the disasters could be that Herobrine appears in the sector, and you have to run away until the hour is up. And if he gets to you, he either insta-kills you, or he takes you down to 2 hearts or less depending on how much health you have when he attacks you.

A segment where you lose hunger bars very quickly leading to no sprint or starvation.(Worse than 1.7 hunger)
Maybe a plugin that gives a hunger effect for the time period.

How about replace the volcano one with blindness where the tributes can't see where they are going or spawn spiders there.
Then in the flood one have it rain arrows or make it a hot area and add water spots everywhere and if you step out of the water to go somewhere you'll be set on fire until you get to the next water spot.

Random blocks fall causing players caught in the segment to either be trapped in a 3 block hole or fall through the world to their death. Kind of like a spleef arena but the blocks just breaking by themselves.

get extreme slowness in the segment and if anyone enters that segment they are not slowed. makes it a lot harder for people who were stuck in the segment to get out and are vulnerable to ambush/ attack by players with regular speed

Flood: hot area tributes get set on fire, goes blind and has to find water to survive with ponds placed randomly around the sector

Rabid Wolves
Rabid wolves that do 3 hearts over time with every bite and they have extra speed.

Lava Rain
Lava rain, the rain would be the entity of dripping lava and on hit it would burn you, dealing 1 heart of fire damage overtime. The only way to avoid it is t0 find shelter such as a tree.

Enderman Craze
Enderman that teleport to you and when you get hit you do 2 damage and there is a chance that the enderman scramble your inventory after you are hit.

I'll keep brainstorming.

Just thinking, how about in one of the sections having the player hallucinate things like seeing players with good stuff, ghasts attacking them or diamond swords lying on the ground?
