I like this idea, but there should be a cooldown time.
You can report 1 person each hour or 30mins or something, so that it isn't spammed.
In order to stop spammed messages:
:'c y u no reedThe options could be limited to a certain variety of rules to report, such as "ForceField" "Aimbot" "WaterWalks" "Spamming" as well as some others, and, of course, "Other". This could possibly be similar to the Sponsorship menu, except that instead of sponsoring someone an item you can call in a moderator! Also, I would prefer if this were to be accessible to both in-game players as well as spectators, for obvious reasons. Perhaps there could be a sword for "ForceField", a bucket of water for "Waterwalks", a regen pot or golden apple for "Regen/Timer", etc. (My only concern is that someone might manage to glitch it and get the item for themselves, not sure if that's a possibility or not.)
Once you reported someone for a certain type of hack, you can either not report them again or a series of related hacks are removed from the list. However, the menu would refresh for each separate player who is reporting someone, and also for each player that is being reported, in case you run across multiple hackers.
Example 1: You run into a hacker, and see he's using forcefield. You /report him, and then run away. You can then not report him again for the rest of the game.
Example 2: You run into a hacker, and see he's using forcefield. You /report him, and then run away. You can then not report him again for forcefield, aimbot, killaura, or any other melee-related hacks.
:'c yes, you have valid points, sadly. Before I begin, I would like to say that I'm keeping this response as positive and constructive as possible. If anyone reading this feels offended, I apologize. Please let me know if you feel so.
24/7 moderator coverage is the biggest issue. I feel as though since we are primarily represented by the US, covering reports from Asia/Australia/and Europe. Likewise, I feel like there's the possibility that too many reports would be given simultaneously, and could easily back up. This effectively gets rid of the advantage of getting quick responses.
I'm not sure if it's worth a ban if someone was spamming the /report command, maybe a kick/warning or something.I think its a great idea!!!!
Im too lazy to poke mods on TS, plus I hate going into the hub and saying "Can a mod plz come to US23?"
Spamming might be an issue, but if a person with previous reports of abusing the system should spam again, you can somehow ban them from using the thingy again.
Im sorry for my English, it isn't my first language and I'm feeling pretty lazy.
Oh >_> I didn't know they had it there, but I suppose that's just another reason this might work? :3They have this on oc.tc, and I don't see why this wouldn't work here too.
glad you appreciate the effort. This is the best. Most thought out thing I've seen on the forums. Really good. This would be awesome if implemented.
While I wouldn't really call it "Discriminating", I do agree pretty much.As it is to report somebody you need one of:
a) Teamspeak intalled
or
b) Recording software.
This is effectively discriminating against those without either- why should you need additional software to report somebody if you only need Minecraft to play MCSG? And to those saying we'd get a lot of dumb accusations, it's not like we don't get a ton of those already. If /report were to be introduced, there would not be a noticeable change in the proportion of legitimate reports. All in all this is a system that would get more hackers caught and make it easier to report them, so I'm all for it.
I don't mean discrimination that wayWhile I do agree that moderators would have a much busier schedule, they did agree to commit a certain amount of effort to MCSG. If they are unable to fulfill what they agreed to do, then they are free to resign, or simply take time off. They are not required to constantly have the Report Abuse section, it's just that some choose to. (Although of course if they don't do their job at all they risk demotion.)
